To add Avalanche (AVAX) to MetaMask, you need to log in to your MetaMask wallet.

1. Log in to your MetaMask wallet
The first step is to open Chrome and download the MetaMask extension.

The wallet creation process requires you to choose a password and store a recovery phrase.
Make sure to store your recovery phrase in a safe place.
If you already have a MetaMask wallet, you need to log in to it.
To do so, click on the MetaMask Chrome extension, enter your password, and click on “Unlock”.
2. Add a new network
After you’ve clicked on “Unlock”, you’ll be logged in to your MetaMask wallet.
Now, you need to add the Avalanche network to your wallet.
This is because MetaMask does not have it.
To add a new network, click on the network dropdown box.
By default, the “Ethereum Mainnet” network will be selected.
Click on “Add Network” to add a new network.
3. Add the Avalanche (AVAX) network
After you’ve clicked on “Add Network”, you’ll land on the “Add a network” page.
This is located in MetaMask > Settings > Networks > Add a network.
Now, you’ll be able to add the Avalanche (AVAX) network to your MetaMask wallet.
To do so, you need to enter Avalanche’s details.
This includes the network name, new RPC URL, chain ID, currency symbol, and block explorer URL.
You can get this information from the Avalanche support website.
Copy and paste these fields accordingly:
- Network Name: Avalanche Network
- New RPC URL: https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc
- Chain ID: 43114
- Symbol: AVAX
- Explorer: https://snowtrace.io/
After you’ve copied and pasted the fields, click on “Save” to add the Avalanche network to MetaMask.
4. Send or receive Avalanche (AVAX)
After you’ve clicked on “Save”, the Avalanche Mainnet network will be added to your MetaMask wallet.
Your network will be automatically switched to the Avalanche Mainnet network.
You can see it by looking at the network dropdown box.
The network dropdown box should say, “Avalanche Mainnet C-Chain”.
Now, you’ll be able to send and receive AVAX.
Here’s how to send AVAX from your Avalanche wallet to your MetaMask wallet:
- Open your Avalanche wallet here: https://wallet.avax.network/.
- Click on “Cross Chain” on the left sidebar.
- Select the “C Chain (Contract)”.
- Enter the amount that you want to send and click on “Confirm”.
- Select “Send”.
- Select “C Contract”.
- Enter your Avalanche wallet address from MetaMask.
- Confirm and finalize the transaction.
You’ve successfully added the Avalanche network and sent AVAX to your MetaMask wallet!

To interact with the Avalance blockchain, you need to have a cryptocurrency wallet like MetaMask.
