How to Fix Black Myth Wukong Not Launching, Crashing, or Freezing

Fix 1: Set Windows power plan to Power Saver (Black Myth Wukong-specific)

  1. Before the shader compilation, search for “Control panel” on Windows Search and press Enter.
  2. Select “System and Security” followed by “Power Options”.
  3. Select “Power saver”.
  4. Once the shader compilation is done, switch back to “Balanced”.

Fix 2: Update your BIOS (Black Myth Wukong-specific)

  1. Press Windows + R, type “msinfo32”, and hit Enter.
  2. Under “System Summary,” find “BaseBoard Product” for your motherboard model.
  3. Search your motherboard model on Google and visit the official manufacturer’s website.
  4. Go to the “Firmware/Bios” section and look for updates released since early August with a description like “Update CPU Microcode.”
  5. Check for an update (if no update is found, Intel may still be rolling out updates).
  6. Download the update, unzip it to a USB flash drive, reboot, enter BIOS, and update using the USB file.

  • Unplug your racing wheel: Unplug the Logitech or Thrustmaster racing wheel.
  • Disable gaming software: Open the task manager and end the Razer Synapse or MSI Dragon Center task.
  • Close your tabs: Close all of your tabs to free up RAM and relaunch the game.

Fix 11: Verify the integrity of game files

  1. Navigate to your Steam library.
  2. Right-click Black Myth Wukong > Properties > Local Files.
  3. Click on “Verify integrity of game files”.
  4. Launch Black Myth Wukong.

Fix 12: Try different launch options

  1. Navigate to your Steam library.
  2. Right-click Black Myth Wukong > Properties > Launch Options.
  3. Type “-dx12” and try launching the game.
    • If the game still crashes, type “-dx11” instead and launch the game.
    • If the game still crashes, type “-windowed” instead and launch the game.

Fix 13: Update Windows to the latest version
