How to Fix Black Screen in God of War Ragnarok

Fix 1: Delete user preferences

  1. Open the File Explorer.
  2. This PC > Windows (C:) > Users.
  3. Your username > Saved Games > God of War Ragnarok.
  4. Open the numbered folder (e.g. 1113942969).
  5. Delete the “userpreferences” file.
  6. Launch God of War Ragnarok and set the brightness, HDR, etc.
  7. Set “Allow data collection” to “Limited”.

Fix 2: Disable fullscreen optimizations

  1. Launch Steam and go to your library.
  2. Right-click “God of War Ragnarok”.
  3. Select “Manage” and select “Browse local files”
  4. Right-click “GoWR” and select “Properties”.

  6. Select “Next”, select “Block the connection”, select “Next”, select “Next”, enter any name, and select “Finish”.
  7. Select “Outbound rules” on the left sidebar.
  8. Select “New rule” from the right sidebar.
  9. Select “Next” and select “Browse”.
  10. Find and open the “GoWR” application (e.g. This PC > C Drive > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common God of War Ragnarok > GoWR).
  11. Select “Next”, select “Block the connection”, select “Next”, select “Next”, enter any name, and select “Finish”.
  12. Launch God of War Ragnarok.
