How to Get the Discord “About Me” Feature

As of June 25, 2021, Discord has released the “About Me” feature to everyone.

This is part of the “Custom Premium Profiles” update.

Before that, only a selected number of users have access to the profile customization feature.

This includes Discord employees and random users who are selected for the beta version of the feature.

Now, the feature is live on Discord, and anyone will be able to use it!

The “About Me” feature is free to use, and you don’t need Discord Nitro for it.

However, if you’re looking to set a profile banner, you’ll need Discord Nitro.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to get the Discord “About Me” beta feature so you can set a profile bio.

How to get the Discord “About Me” feature

To get the Discord “About Me” feature, you need to use Discord on a desktop and navigate to your user settings.

Once you’re on your user settings, click on “User Profile”.

On the “User Profile” setting, you’ll be able to add an “About Me” section to your profile.

To do so, write whatever you want in the “About Me” section.

The “About Me” section has a text field where you can write up to 190 characters.

Remember to click on “Save” once you’re done.

Otherwise, the “About Me” section will not be saved.

After you’ve saved it, you’ll be able to see a preview of it on the “Preview” section.

Whenever someone clicks on your profile, it’ll look similar to the preview.

Here’s how to get the Discord “About Me” feature:

  1. Open Discord & navigate to your user settings
  2. Click on “User Profile” & edit the “About Me” section
  3. Click on “Save Changes” to save your changes

1. Open Discord & navigate to your user settings

The first step is to navigate to your user settings on Discord.

To begin with, open Discord on your desktop.

If you haven’t downloaded Discord on your desktop yet, you can download it here.

Click on the “Download for Windows” button to download Discord for the Windows operating system.

Once you’re on Discord, you’ll see your profile picture at the bottom of the left sidebar.

Next to your profile picture, you’ll see three icons.

This includes a microphone, headphones, and a gear icon.

Click on the gear icon to to to your user settings.

2. Click on “User Profile” & edit the “About Me” section

After you’ve clicked on the gear icon, your user settings will open.

On the left sidebar, you’ll see multiple settings.

This includes “My Account”, “User Profile”, “Privacy & Safety”, and others.

Click on “User Profile” to open your user profile settings.

On your user profile settings, you’ll be able to change your avatar, add a profile banner, and add an “About Me” section to your profile.

Adding the “About Me” section is completely free, and you don’t need to have Discord Nitro to use it!

On the other hand, if you’re looking to add a profile banner to your profile, you need to have Discord Nitro.

Under the “About Me” header, you’ll see a text field.

Write anything that you want on the text field to add the “About Me” section to your profile.

Do note that there’s a character limit of 190.

You can see a preview of your “About Me” on the right side of the page.

3. Click on “Save Changes” to save your changes

Once you’re done writing your “About Me”, don’t forget to save your changes.

Otherwise, the “About Me” section will not show up on your profile.

At the bottom of the page, you’ll see a “Reset” button and a “Save Changes” button.

Click on the “Save Changes” button to save your changes.

After you’ve saved your changes, you’ll now have an “About Me” section on your Discord profile.

To view your profile, you need to create your own server.

You can create your own server by clicking on the “+” icon on the left sidebar of Discord.

Once you’ve created your own server, open it.

Then, click on your profile on the right sidebar of your server.

After you’ve clicked on your profile, your Discord profile will open and you’ll be able to see your “About Me”.
