How to get Gengar in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

To get Gengar in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you need to first catch a Pincurchin.

After you’ve caught a Pincurchin, go to Levincia, talk to a lady there, and trade your Pincurchin with a Haunter.

When you’ve completed the trade, Haunter will automatically evolve into Gengar.

Here’s how to get Gengar without trading online:

  1. Catch a Pincurchin on various beaches (expand the first screenshot above).
  2. Go to Levincia and talk to a lady there.
  3. Trade your Pincurchin with a Haunter.

Haunter will automatically evolve in Gengar when the trade is completed.

Here’s what the lady will say, “I’ve heard rumors about Pokemon that evolve when they’re traded!”.
