A self-proclaimed prankster identified as Johnson Wen breached security at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good.
On Thursday night, he rushed towards Ariana Grande on the red carpet and briefly grabbing her before being removed by security.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. local time at Marina Bay Sands as Grande, 32, and co-star Cynthia Erivo posed for photos ahead of the film’s November 21 global release.
Video footage shows Wen, 28, leaping over a barricade, sprinting toward Grande, and making physical contact.
This includes pulling her arm before Erivo stepped in to intervene along with security personnel.
No injuries were reported, and the event continued after a short delay.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed it is reviewing video evidence and speaking with witnesses to determine if charges will be filed.
A spokesperson for Universal Pictures, which is distributing Wicked: For Good, called the breach “unacceptable”.
They also said that enhanced security protocols will be implemented for remaining promotional events.
The film, directed by Jon M. Chu, is the second installment in the two-part adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked.
It has generated significant buzz following the success of 2024’s Wicked: Part One.
Wen, an Australian content creator known online as @pyjamamann on Instagram, has a history of stage-crashing and event intrusions.
This includes incidents at concerts by The Weeknd and Katy Perry, and during the 2024 Paris Olympics soccer final.
He is known for having far-left ideologies, broadcasting messages like supporting Palestine, Ukranian resistance, and LGBTQIA+.
Based on his past invasions, Wen lives a nomadic lifestyle, is unemployed, and contributes nothing to society.
