How to Fix “No quotes available” on MetaMask

Are you getting a “No quotes available” error on MetaMask?

Here’s the full error message, “Try adjusting the amount or slippage settings and try again”.

The error message prevents you from trading the token pair that you’ve selected.

As a result, you won’t be able to cash out your tokens.

For example, if you’re swapping BNB for CAKE, you might receive the “No quotes available” error.

In this guide, you’ll learn what does “No quotes available” mean on MetaMask and how to fix it.

What does “No quotes available” mean on MetaMask?

No quotes available on MetaMask

“No quotes available” on MetaMask means that there isn’t a match for your swap request on the exchanges that MetaMask Swaps uses.

This is because there isn’t enough liquidity for the trade to be executed.

When the market is low in liquidity, it increases its volatility.

This causes spikes in the token’s prices.

If your max slippage is too low, sharp changes in the token’s prices will prevent the swap to be executed.

As a result, you’ll get the “No quotes” available error.

On the other hand, if there are high liquidity levels, there will be fewer fluctuations in price.

This will make it easier for the swap to be executed.

How to fix “No quotes available” mean on MetaMask

To fix “No quotes” available on MetaMask, you need to increase your max slippage in increments.

Start with a 3% max slippage, then increase it to 4% and 5% respectively.

This will ensure that you get the most value for the token pairs that you’re trading.

Maximum slippage means the maximum percentage of price movement that you can accept.

If the price movement is higher than your maximum slippage, the swap will fail.

Hence, increasing your max slippage will increase the likelihood for the swap to succeed.

However, if your max slippage is too high, you may get way more or way less of the token than you’re expecting.

That said, increasing your max slippage in increments is the best way forward.

Method 1: Increase your max slippage

The first method to fix the “No quotes available” error on MetaMask is to increase your max slippage.

Firstly, open MetaMask, tap on “Swap”, and select the token pairs that you want to trade.

On the swapping page, you’ll see a “Max slippage” option.

Tap on “Max slippage” and increase it to 4% and 5% respectively.

After you’ve increased your max slippage to 4%, try swapping the tokens.

Similarly, after you’ve increased it to 5%, try swapping the tokens as well.

Here’s how you can do this:

1. Tap on “Max slippage”

Firstly, open MetaMask and log in to your wallet.

For the purpose of this guide, we’ll use the MetaMask mobile app.

Once you’re on MetaMask, tap on “Swap”.

After you’ve tapped on “Swap”, select the token pair that you want to trade.

On the swapping page, you’ll see a “Max slippage” option.

Tap on “Max slippage” to start changing your max slippage.

2. Increase your max slippage

After you’ve tapped on “Max slippage”, you’ll be able to adjust your max slippage.

By default, your max slippage will be set to “3%”.

However, “3%” is too low for some swaps to be executed (in low liquidity markets).

Hence, you need to increase it in increments for the swap to be successful.

Firstly, increase your max slippage to “4%” and try swapping the tokens.

If you’re still getting the “No quotes available” error, increase your max slippage to “5%” and try swapping the tokens again.

Increasing your max slippage will increase the likelihood for the swap to succeed.

However, if you’re still getting the “No quotes available” error even after increasing your max slippage to “5%”, you need to use another method to fix it.

This includes using a decentralized exchange like PancakeSwap or trying again later.

Method 2: Use a decentralized exchange

The second method is to use a decentralized exchange to swap your tokens instead of MetaMask.

Two of the most popular decentralized exchanges are PancakeSwap and Uniswap.

For the purpose of this guide, we’ll use PancakeSwap.

Here’s how to use PancakeSwap to swap tokens:

  1. Go to the PancakeSwap exchange: https://pancakeswap.finance/swap.
  2. Tap on “Connect” and tap on “MetaMask”.
  3. Select the token pair that you want to trade.
  4. Enter the number of tokens that you want to swap.
  5. Tap on “Swap” followed by “Confirm Swap”.
  6. Confirm the swap on MetaMask.

After you’ve confirmed the swap, the transaction will be submitted.

You can check the status of it on BscScan.com.

If the transaction is unsuccessful, you can try increasing your slippage tolerance by tapping on the filter icon.

Conclusion

Swapping tokens on MetaMask is fairly easy.

All you need to do is select the token pair that you want to swap.

Next, enter the number of tokens that you want to swap for another token and swap them.

However, during low liquidity levels, the swap may fail.

Unfortunately, there is no way to predict when there is liquidity available.

If the swap still fails even after you’ve increased your max slippage, you need to try again later.

Wait for a few hours and try swapping the tokens again.

Alternatively, you can try using a decentralized exchange like PancakeSwap or Uniswap.
