How to Add XRP to MetaMask

To add XRP to MetaMask, you must first add the Binance Smart Chain network.

After you’ve added the Binance Smart Chain network to MetaMask, you need to copy XRP’s contract address.

Lastly, import XRP as a custom token to MetaMask.

Now, you’ll be able to send or receive XRP.

The Binance Smart Chain Mainnet network can be retrieved from the Binance docs website.

Keep in mind that if you didn’t select the Binance Smart Chain network, you won’t be able to view your XRP balance.

Here’s how to add XRP to MetaMask:

  1. Log in to your MetaMask wallet
  2. Add a new network
  3. Add the Binance Smart Chain network
  4. Copy XRP’s contract address
  5. Import a custom token
  6. Paste XRP’s contract address
  7. Send or receive XRP

1. Log in to your MetaMask wallet

To begin with, you need to log in to your MetaMask wallet.

If you don’t have a MetaMask wallet, you need to install it on Chrome.

You can install the MetaMask Chrome extension here.

After you’ve installed the MetaMask Chrome extension, you need to create a new wallet if you haven’t already.

When you’re creating a new wallet, you’re required to choose a password and store a secret recovery phrase.

If you already have a MetaMask wallet, you can either enter your password to unlock it or import it using your secret recovery phrase.

2. Add a new network

Skip to step #4 if you already have the Binance Smart Chain network.

After you’ve unlocked your MetaMask wallet, you need to add the Binance Smart Chain network.

This is because XRP is hosted on the Binance Smart Chain network.

Hence, you cannot add XRP if you’re on the Ethereum Mainnet network.

To start adding a new network, click on the network dropdown box.

By default, the “Ethereum Mainnet” network will be selected, so you need to click on it.

Lastly, click on “Add Network” to add a new network.

3. Add the Binance Smart Chain network

After you’ve clicked on “Add Network”, you’ll land on the “Add a network” page.

The page contains multiple fields that you need to provide.

This includes “Network Name”, “New RPC URL”, “Chain ID”, and more.

Now, you need to add the Binance Smart Chain network if you haven’t already.

You can get this information from the Binance docs website.

Copy and paste these fields accordingly:

Mainnet

  • Network Name: Smart Chain
  • New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
  • Chain ID: 56
  • Symbol: BNB
  • Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com

After you’ve copied and pasted the fields, click on “Save” to add the network to MetaMask.

Now, your network will be automatically switched to the Binance Smart Chain network.

4. Copy XRP’s contract address

Link to XRP’s contract address: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/xrp/.

Now, you need to copy XRP’s contract address.

By copying it, you’ll be able to import it as a custom token.

To do so, go to CoinMarketCap.com and search for “XRP”.

Once you’re on the XRP page, click on the duplicate icon under “Contracts” to copy XRP’s contract address.

5. Import a custom token

After you’ve copied XRP’s contract address, go back to your MetaMask wallet.

Now, you need to make sure that the Binance Smart Chain network is selected.

If it isn’t, click on the network dropdown box and select “Smart Chain”.

Next, scroll down the page and click on “Import tokens” to start importing a custom token.

6. Paste XRP’s contract address

After you’ve clicked on “Import tokens”, you’ll and on the “Custom Token” page.

On the page, you’ll see 3 fields.

This includes “Token Contract Address”, “Token Symbol”, and “Token Decimal”.

Paste XRP’s contact address into the “Token Contract Address” field.

After you’ve pasted XRP’s contract address, the other two fields will be auto-populated.

Keep in mind that the other two fields will only be auto-populated if you’re on the “Smart Chain” network.

Lastly, click on “Add Custom Token” to add XRP to MetaMask.

7. Send or receive XRP

After you’ve clicked on “Add Custom Token”, XRP will be added to your MetaMask wallet in the “Smart Chain” network.

You can see your XRP balance under “Assets”.

Now, you’ll be able to send or receive XRP.

To send XRP, click on “XRP”, click on “Send”, and paste the receiver’s address.

To receive XRP, copy your address in the “Smart Chain” network by clicking on the duplicate icon under “Account 1” (or whatever your wallet’s name is).

You’ve successfully added XRP to MetaMask!
