How to Change Your Genshin Impact Username or Name

On Genshin Impact, you can change your character’s name at any time.

However, changing your Genshin Impact/miHoYo username is difficult.

If you’ve chosen a miHoYo username that you dislike, you can’t change it directly in your account settings.

In your account settings, you’ll see multiple sections including “Username”, “Email”, “Mobile”, and “Change Password”.

There is an option to change your email, mobile, and password.

However, there won’t be an option to change your username.

Hence, you cannot change your username in your account settings.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to change your miHoYo username and your Genshin Impact name.

Whether you’re playing Genshin Impact on a PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or mobile, you can follow this guide to change them.

How to change your Genshin Impact username

Change Genshin Impact username

To change your Genshin Impact username, you need to send an email to Genshin Impact.

This is because there isn’t an option for you to change your username directly in your account settings.

Firstly, send an email to genshin_cs@mihoyo.com, which is Genshin Impact’s official email address.

The “cs” in their email address stands for “customer service”.

Firstly, use “Change of username” as the subject line.

In the email, you need to say that you want to change your username.

You can also add that you’ve accidentally set an incorrect username.

Next, tell them the username that you want to change to and the email address that is linked to your Genshin Impact account.

Here’s an example of an email that you can send, “Hi Genshin Impact support, I’m looking to change my miHoYo account’s username because I’ve accidentally set an incorrect one”.

Followed by, “Please help me to change it to “newusername”. The email address that is linked to my account is “youremail@gmail.com”.

Modify “newusername” to the username that you want to change to and modify “youremail@gmail.com” to the email address that is linked to your account.

After you’ve finished typing the email, you need to send it.

Then, wait for a few days for Genshin Impact’s response.

If successful, Genshin Impact support will change your username for you.

However, if it’s unsuccessful, you need to create a new Genshin Impact account to change your username.

How to change your Genshin Impact name

To change your Genshin Impact name, you need to open the Paimon menu, click on the edit icon, then click on “Edit nickname”.

After you’ve clicked on “Edit nickname”, change your Genshin Impact name and click on “Confirm” to save your changes.

If you’re playing Genshin Impact on a PC, press “Esc” on your keyboard to open the Paimon menu.

On the other hand, if you’re playing Genshin Impact on a mobile device, tap on the Paimon icon on the top-left of your screen.

If someone wants to add you as a friend, you need to send them your UID (user ID) and not your name.

However, your name will be displayed in the chat and in-game when you’re playing multiplayer.

Here’s how to change your Genshin Impact name:

1. Open the Paimon menu and click on “Edit nickname”

The first step is to open the Paimon menu.

For PC, press “ESC” on your keyboard to open the Paimon menu.

For mobile devices, tap on the Paimon icon on the top-left of your screen.

Lastly, for PlayStation, press the “Options” button.

On the Paimon menu, you’ll see your current name and signature.

Next to your name, you’ll see an edit icon.

If you’re using a PC, click on the edit icon next to your name.

This will open a menu containing several options including “Change avatar”, “Change Namecard”, “Edit nickname”, and more.

Since you’re looking to change your Genshin Impact name, click on “Edit nickname”.

2. Edit your nickname

After you’ve clicked on “Edit nickname”, the “Edit nickname” pop-up will open.

On the pop-up, you’ll see your current Genshin Impact name in the field.

Click on the field, delete your current name, and change it to your desired name.

Once you’re done, you need to save your changes.

Click on “Confirm” to save your changes.

You’ve successfully changed your name on Genshin Impact!

Now, your new name will be displayed in chat and in-game.

Why can’t I change my Genshin Impact name?

You can’t change your Genshin Impact name because miHoYo has disabled it.

If that’s the case, you need to wait until miHoYo re-enables the name-changing feature.

If you don’t see the “Edit nickname” option, it means that it’s temporarily disabled.

This is a common issue that happened multiple times in 2021.

Conclusion

If you email Genshin Impact support to request a username change, it might not always work.

If it does not work, your best bet is to create a new Genshin Impact account.

By creating a new account, you’ll be able to choose a username that you like.

However, if you’ve made a lot of progress in the game, it’s highly recommended that you avoid creating a new account.

This is because you’ll have to restart your progress.

That said, you can always change your in-game name/nickname from the Paimon menu.
