How to Change Your Server Name on Discord

Are you looking to change your server name on Discord but you don’t know how to?

Discord allows you to change your server name at any time.

In addition, there is no restriction on how many times you can change it.

So if you’ve created a Discord server and accidentally misspelled its name, don’t worry.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to change your server name on Discord in 4 easy steps (with screenshots).

How to change your server name on Discord

To change your server name on Discord, you need to navigate to your server settings.

Then, navigate to “Server Overview” and change your server name by editing the “Server Name” field.

You can change your server name on both the desktop version and the mobile version of Discord.

However, changing your server name on Discord on a desktop is a little different from changing it on mobile.

This is because the user interface is different.

There is one more tab that you have to navigate to on Discord mobile if you want to change your server name.

If you’re using Discord on a desktop, you’ll be able to change your server name on the “Server Overview” tab.

This can be accessed by navigating to your server > dropdown box > Server Settings > Overview > Server Name.

After you’ve clicked on “Server Settings”, you’ll land on the “Overview” page.

However, if you’re using Discord on mobile, you’ll need to tap on “Overview” to find the field to change your server name as you won’t automatically land on it.

Here is how you can change your server name on Discord:

Step #1: Navigate to your server and tap on the three dots

Open Discord mobile > left sidebar > your server > three dots.

The first step is to navigate to your server and tap on the three dots.

Firstly, open Discord on your mobile device.

You can use a desktop for this, but the screenshots in this article are taken on the mobile version of Discord.

So, it’s highly recommended that you use Discord on mobile for this.

After you’ve opened Discord, navigate to your server by tapping on your server’s icon on the left sidebar.

This will open up your server’s menu containing your server’s name and channels.

Next to your server’s name, you’ll see three dots.

If you’re using Discord on a desktop, you’ll see a dropdown arrow instead of three dots.

Tap on the three dots to open your server’s information.

Proceed to the next step to find out how to navigate to your server settings.

Step #2: Tap on “Settings”

“Boost” allows you to unlock server perks such as emoji slots, increased audio quality, and more.

“Invite” will bring up your server’s link that you can copy and share with others.

“Notifications” allows you to change your notification settings.

Lastly, “Settings” will open your server settings.

Overview > Server Name > change your server name > Save > Back > Close.

Once you’re on the overview page, you’ll see an overview of your server.

On the page, you’ll be able to change your server’s name and region.

You’ll also be able to change your server’s inactive settings, system messages settings, and default notification settings.

Lastly, you can also delete your server by tapping on the “Delete Server” button at the bottom of the page.

Find the field that says “Server Name” on top of it.

This is also the first field on the “Overview” page.

To change your server name, tap on the “Server Name” field, delete the existing name, and change it to whatever that you want it to be.

As soon as you modified your server name, a “Save” option will appear on the top navigation bar of the page.

Tap on the “Save” option to save your changes.

Then, tap on “Back” followed by “Close” to go back to your Discord server.

Congrats, you’ve successfully changed your server name on Discord!

Conclusion

Changing your server name on Discord is completely fine if you’ve just created it.

However, if you have a ton of members on your server, it’s highly recommended that you refrain from changing it.

This is because your members might be confused by the sudden name change.

They might even be unaware of the server that they’re in.

If you’re adamant about changing your server name, make sure to send an announcement message to the server.

That way, your members are aware of the name change which mitigates them from leaving the server.
