To fix the “Couldn’t start” Error in Valorant, you can try clearing temporary files or unchecking the compatibility options for the “Valorant-Win64-Shipping.exe” app.

You can also try turning on the “vgc” service or restarting your computer.

Fix 1: Clear temporary files

  1. Type “run” (without quotation marks) in Windows Search and press Enter.
  2. Type “temp” (without quotation marks) in the field and press Enter.
  3. Press CTRL + A to highlight all files/folders.
  4. Right-click and select the “Delete” icon to delete all temporary files.
  5. Launch Valorant.

Fix 2: Uncheck compatibility options

  1. Open the File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to the “Valorant-Win64-Shipping.exe” app.
    • Most likely located in “C:\Riot Games\VALORANT\live\ShooterGame\Binaries\Win64”.

  5. Untick “Disable fullscreen optimizations” if ticked.
  6. Untick “Run this program as an administrator” if ticked.
  7. Select “Apply” and select “OK”.
  8. Launch Valorant.

Note: If both “Disable fullscreen optimizations” and “Run this program as an administrator” are already unticked, try ticking them instead.

Fix 3: Turn on vgc

  1. Type “Services” (without quotation marks) in Windows Search and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down and double-click “vgc”.
  3. Change the startup type to “Automatic”.
  4. Select “Start”, select “Apply”, and select “OK”.
  5. Launch Valorant.

Fix 4: Restart your PC

  1. Select the Windows icon and select the power button.
  2. Select “Restart” to restart your computer.
  3. Launch Valorant.
