Discord is introducing a brand new feature for Nitro users called “Custom Premium Profiles”.
As of June 25, 2021, the feature is rolled out to everyone on Discord!
Before that, only a selected number of users have it.
This includes Discord employees and lucky users who are the first in the queue for beta access to the feature.
Now, Nitro users are able to set a banner on their profiles.
This is similar to setting a banner on a Discord server.
In addition, you’ll be able to set an animated avatar and a custom tag.
Unfortunately, if you don’t have Nitro, you won’t be able to have this perk.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to get a Discord profile banner or change it.
How to get a Discord profile banner
To get a Discord profile banner, you need to open the desktop version of Discord go to your user settings.
Next, navigate to your profile settings by clicking on “User Profile”.
On your profile settings, you’ll be able to customize your profile.
If you have Discord Nitro, you’ll be able to get or change your Discord profile banner by clicking on “Upload Banner”.
Then, select an image from your computer to set it as your banner.
If you don’t have Discord Nitro, you need to purchase it before you can set a profile banner by clicking on “Unlock with Nitro”.
Here’s how you can get a Discord profile banner:
- Go to your user settings & click on “User Profile”
- Click on “Unlock with Nitro” (if you don’t have Nitro)

1. Go to your user settings & click on “User Profile”
The first step is to go to your user settings.
Firstly, open the desktop version of Discord.
If you haven’t downloaded Discord on your desktop yet, you can download it here.
Click on the “Download for Windows” button to download Discord on Windows.
Once you’re on Discord, you’ll see your profile icon at the bottom of the left sidebar.
Next to your profile icon, you’ll see three icons.
This includes a microphone, headphones, and a gear icon.
Click on the gear icon to navigate to your user settings.
After you’ve clicked on the gear icon, your user settings will open.
On the left sidebar, you’ll see multiple settings.
This includes “My Account”, “User Profile”, “Privacy & Safety”, and more.
Click on “User Profile” to open your user profile settings.
2. Click on “Unlock with Nitro” (if you don’t have Nitro)
If you already have Discord Nitro, you can skip this step.
After you’ve clicked on “User Profile”, your user profile settings will open.
On your user profile settings, you’ll see a “Profile Banner” section.
In the “Profile Banner” section, you’ll be able to add a banner to your Discord profile.
But before you can add it, you need to have Discord Nitro.
If you don’t have Discord Nitro, click on the “Unlock with Nitro” button.
After you’ve clicked on the “Unlock with Nitro” button, you need to select a plan.
If you’re looking to have Discord Nitro for a short while, select the “Monthly” plan.
On the other hand, if you want to have Discord Nitro for a year, select the “Yearly” plan.
Then, you need to enter your credit or debit card details.
You can also pay using PayPal.
After entering your payment information, you need to provide your address.
After you’ve provided your payment information and address, Nitro will be activated.
You’ll now be able to add a profile banner on Discord!

3. Click on “Upload Banner” & upload a banner
Now that you have Nitro, the “Unlock with Nitro” button will be changed to the “Change Banner” button.
Firstly, click on “Change Banner” to open the file explorer.
In the file explorer, navigate to the image that you want to set as your banner and select it.
The recommended size for a Discord profile banner is 600×240.
After you’ve uploaded a banner, you’ll be able to see a preview of it on the right side of the page.
Now that you’ve uploaded a banner, you need to save your changes.
Otherwise, your profile banner will not be shown on your profile.
At the bottom of the page, you’ll see a couple of buttons including “Reset” and “Save Changes”.
Click on “Save Changes” to save your changes.
After you’ve saved your changes, you’ll be able to see your profile banner on your profile.
Other users will also be able to see your profile banner when they click on your profile.
If you want to see your profile, you need to create your own server.
You can create your own server by clicking on the “+” icon on the left sidebar.
After you’ve created your own server, click on your profile on the right sidebar of it.
Then, you’ll be able to see your profile banner on your profile!
