How to Join a Discord Server Without an Invite

Joining a Discord server is simple as you just need an invite link.

If you have a friend who created a Discord server, you can ask them for the invite link.

Alternatively, you can ask them to invite you to the server directly.

If your friend sent you an invite to join their server, you can join it by selecting the “Join” button.

The “Join” button will be located in your private conversation between them.

However, if you’re looking to join a Discord server without an invite link, you need to use another method.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to join a Discord server without an invite in 3 different ways.

How to join a Discord server without an invite

To join a Discord server without an invite, you can either explore public servers on Discord, join a server from top.gg, or find servers on Disboard.

Discord has a feature where you can explore public servers within the app itself via the “Explore Public Servers” icon.

However, you need to use the desktop version of Discord for this as it is not available on mobile.

In addition, websites like top.gg and Disboard allow you to search for public servers on Discord.

These websites allow server owners to add their servers to them.

For example, if you own a Discord server, you can add it to a server listing website along with its categories.

As a result, anyone who stumbles across your server will be able to join it.

Below are the 3 ways you can use to join a Discord server without an invite.

  1. Explore Public Servers on Discord
  2. Join a Discord server from top.gg
  3. Find Discord servers on Disboard

1. Explore Public Servers on Discord

How to join a Discord server without an invite

Open the desktop version of Discord > Explore Public Servers > search for a server > Join.

The first way to join a Discord server without an invite is to use the “Explore Public Servers” feature on Discord.

The “Explore Public Servers” tab contains a list of public Discord servers that anyone can join.

Firstly, open Discord on a desktop and not on mobile.

This is because the “Explore Public Servers” icon is only available on the desktop version of Discord.

Once you’ve opened Discord on a desktop, navigate to the left sidebar.

At the bottom of the left sidebar, you’ll see a compass icon (in green).

If you hover over the compass icon, you’ll see the “Explore Public Servers” chat bubble.

Click on the compass icon to discover public servers on Discord.

After you’ve clicked on the compass icon, you’ll notice a search bar where you can explore communities.

You can search for a server by its name, category, or tag.

For example, if you’re looking for a game server, search for the game’s name and hit enter.

You can also search for a category/tag like “Gaming” or “Music”.

The search results will display the most popular servers first.

Click on any of the servers to view it in preview mode.

If you’re ready to join the server, click on the “Join servername” button on the top navigation bar.

If you don’t want to join the server, click on the back button on the top navigation bar instead.

Other than searching for a server, you can discover servers by category.

To do that, click on any one of the categories on the left sidebar (e.g., Gaming. Music, Tech).

Similar to the search function, the search results will display the most popular servers first.

So if you want to find a smaller server, you have to navigate to the middle of the list.

2. Join a Discord server from top.gg

Search Discord servers

Go to top.gg and search for a server’s name, category, or tag.

Another way to join a Discord server without an invite is to use top.gg.

Top.gg is a website that contains a list of Discord bots and servers.

Firstly, head on over to top.gg using a browser.

Once you’re on the website, select the “Discord Servers” header.

After you’ve selected the “Discord Servers” header, you’ll land on top.gg/servers.

On the “Discord Servers” page, you’ll see a search bar that says “Search for specific servers…”.

You can either search for a server by its name, category, or tag.

For example, if you’re looking for Among Us servers, enter “Among Us” on the search bar and hit enter.

To discover Discord servers by category, click on one of the categories under the search bar.

You can also search for a keyword on the search bar.

The search results will display the highest voted servers first.

For example, if the highest voted server has 10,000 votes, it’ll be shown on the top of the search results.

To view the server, click on the “View” button.

This will show the server’s information (e.g., description, rating, reviews).

To join the server, click on “Join” > “Join Server” > “Join servername”.

3. Find Discord servers on Disboard

Find Discord servers

Go to Disboard.org and search for a server’s name, category, or tag.

The final way to join a Discord server without an invite is to use Disboard.

Disboard is a public discord server list where you can add or find public servers on Discord.

To find a server, search for the server’s name, category, or tag on the search bar, and hit enter.

The search results will show the servers that are recently bumped.

You can also filter the search results by “Member count” which will display the servers with the highest number of members first.

If you want to discover servers by their category/tag, simply scroll past the search bar.

Then, click on the category/tag that you want to filter the search results to.

To expand the tag list, click on the down arrow icon under “Popular tags”.

Once you’ve found a server that you want to join, click on “Join This Server” to join the server.

After you’ve clicked on the “Join This Server” button, you’ll be redirected to Discord.

Click on “Join servername” to join the server.

Congrats, you’ve learned how to join a Discord server without an invite!

Conclusion

All in all, the “Explore Public Servers” tab is a great way to find public servers to join on Discord without an invite.

However, it only lists servers that have over 7,000 members.

This is because a minimum of 7,000 members is required for a Discord server to enable server discovery.

If you want to find servers below 7,000 members, you’re better off using a server listing website like top.gg or Disboard instead.

In addition, server listing websites contain way more servers than the “Explore Public Servers” tab on Discord.
