How to Fix Final Fantasy VII Rebirth DX12 Is Not Supported on Your System

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second game of the FINAL FANTASY VII remake trilogy.

Ride Chocobos across plains, visit familiar places to pursue Sephiroth, and more.

Simultaneously, Zack Fair drags himself across the wastelands leading into Midgar.

The Shinra Resistance Committee, led by the acting government of Wutai, declares war.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix “DX12 is not supported for your system” in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (DirectX 12 error).

Fix 1: Update your graphics card

Fix 2: Add -dx12 or -d3d12 to your launch options

  1. Navigate to your Steam library.
  2. Right-click Final Fantasy VII Rebirth > Properties > Launch Options.
  3. Type “-dx12” and try launching the game.
    • If the game still crashes, type “-d3d12” instead and launch the game.
    • If the game still crashes, type “-windowed” instead and launch the game.

Fix 3: Update Windows to the latest version

  1. Search for “Check for updates” using Windows Search.
  2. Update Windows to the latest version.
  3. Launch Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Note: Updating Windows to the latest version will update DirectX to the latest version as well.

Fix 4: Replace the d3d12 file with a mod

  1. Download the d3d12 modded file here.
  2. Open the game’s location (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fantasy VII REBIRTH\End\Binaries\Win64).
  3. Paste the d3d12 modded file.
  4. Select “Replace the file in the destination”.
