How to Fix Instagram Posts Not Loading

Are your Instagram posts not loading when you try to view them?

This is a common issue that many Instagram users face.

Even if your internet connection is fine, you might still encounter this issue.

You need to find the right solution to get posts to start loading again.

In this guide, you’ll learn why are Instagram posts not loading and how to fix it.

Why are Instagram posts not loading?

Instagram posts not loading

Instagram posts are not loading because Instagram is most likely down.

If Instagram is not down, there is either a bug on the app, your internet connection is weak, or you don’t have the latest version of the app.

Some updates introduce bugs to the app like the loading problem for posts.

If so, Instagram will release a new update soon to fix the existing bug on the app.

If an update contains “Bug fixes and improvements”, you need to update the app.

How to fix Instagram posts not loading

To fix Instagram posts not loading, you need to check if Instagram is down.

If Instagram is not down, you can try switching your network or updating Instagram.

You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app or waiting for 24 to 48 hours.

If all else fails, you can try logging out and logging in to your account.

1. See if Instagram is down

Before you try to fix the Instagram post loading problem, you need to see if Instagram is down.

There are two ways to check if Instagram is down.

The first way is to visit DownDetector (downdetector.com/status/instagram).

Once you’re on the website, check if there’s a spike in the graph.

If there’s a spike in the graph, it means that Instagram is most likely down.

The second way is to go to Twitter and search for “Instagram down”.

After that, check the top and latest tweets to see if there are a lot of people tweeting about it.

If there are many people tweeting about it, it means that Instagram is probably down for everyone and not just you.

If that’s the case, you need to wait for a few hours for Instagram’s engineering team to fix the downtime.

2. Change your network

In some cases, your IP address might be temporarily blocked by Instagram.

This can happen if you carry out too many actions in one go.

In other cases, your internet connection might be poor, not active, or too slow.

If so, an Instagram post might take too long to load and will time out.

You can check your internet speed using a tool like Speedtest by Ookla.

If your internet speed is below average (<40 Mbps), you might want to consider upgrading it.

To fix this, you need to change your network.

If you’re using Wi-Fi, you need to change to mobile data.

If you’re using mobile data, you need to change to Wi-Fi.

After switching your network, force close the Instagram app, re-open it, and check if posts can load.

3. Update Instagram

Ensure that you always have the latest version of Instagram.

That said, some updates introduce bugs to the app.

Some bugs will stop features on the app from loading like IG posts.

If that’s the case, Instagram will release a new update to fix them.

Go to the App Store or Google Play Store and search for “Instagram”.

If the update has bug fixes and improvements, you need to update the app ASAP.

4. Uninstall and reinstall Instagram

According to Instagram’s Help Center, uninstalling and reinstalling the app is a recommended troubleshooting method.

But you need to try restarting your device and checking your connection first.

By uninstalling and reinstalling Instagram, the app will be automatically updated to the latest version.

In addition, the app’s cache will be cleared—which can fix certain issues like posts not loading.

5. Wait for 24 to 48 hours

Another method is to wait for 24 to 48 hours and posts should start loading again.

Most errors on Instagram last for 24 to 48 hours (in rare cases, it can take multiple days).

This includes the “Try Again Later” or the “Couldn’t Load Users” error.

I’ve personally experienced the Instagram posts not loading issue before.

In my case, the issue happened because I didn’t provide my age on the app.

However, Instagram did not prompt me to provide my age until several days later.

In the meantime, posts and other features on Instagram weren’t loading.

Instagram posts started loading again after I provided my age on the app when I was prompted to do so.

6. Log out and log in to your account

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Tap on the menu icon.
  3. Tap on “Settings”.
  4. Scroll down and tap on “Log Out”.

After you’ve logged out of your Instagram account, try logging in.

Lastly, check if Instagram posts can load.
