How to Fix Lag, Stuttering, or Low FPS in NBA 2K25

Fix 1: Update your graphics card

Fix 2: Use high-performance graphics

  1. Search for “Graphics settings” using Windows Search and press Enter.
  2. Select “browse” and add the NBA 2K25 app (e.g. This PC > Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > NBA 2K25 > NBA 2K25 application).
  3. Select “Options” on NBA 2K25.
  4. Choose “High performance” and select “Save”.
  5. Launch NBA 2K25 and let the shaders build complete!

Fix 3: Lower video settings

  1. Launch NBA 2K25 > Features > Video Settings.
  2. Change these settings:
    • HDR: Off
    • Ray-Traced Reflections: Off
    • Texture Detail Level: Low
    • Overall Quality: Low

Fix 4: Close all of your tabs and apps

  • Close all tabs before launching the game (e.g. Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox).
  • Close all apps before launching the game (e.g. Discord, File Explorer, Outlook).

Fix 5: Delete temporary files

  1. Search for %temp% using the Windows search bar.
  2. Press CTRL + A on your keyboard to select all files.
  3. Right-click a file.
  4. Select “Delete”.
  5. Select “Yes”.
