Alternative solution

If installing the old Minecraft launcher does not fix the 0x80131509 error, there’s another method that you can try.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on the method:

  1. Restart your PC, wait for some time, and try installing the Minecraft launcher again.
  2. Uninstall any other Minecraft launchers that are installed on your PC.
  3. Open the Xbox App and Microsoft Store in the background.
  4. Make sure that you’re logged in with the same account on the Xbox App and Microsoft Store.
  5. Try installing the Minecraft launcher again.

Multiple users reported that they are able to successfully install the Minecraft launcher after they’ve logged in with the same account on the Xbox App and Microsoft Store.

However, the Xbox App and Microsoft Store have to be running in your background.

If installing the Minecraft launcher from the Microsoft Store does not work, you need to install it on the Minecraft download page instead: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/download.

Instead of downloading the Windows 10/11 version of the launcher, you need to download the Windows 7/8 version.

After you’ve submitted the request, you need to wait for 1 to 3 business days for Minecraft’s response.
