To fix Modern Warfare 2 not launching on Xbox, you need to enable offline mode.

To do so, press “A”, press “B”, and select “Go Offline”.

If it’s still not launching, you need to make sure that you have an active Xbox Live subscription.

If you don’t, you need to subscribe to Xbox Live or renew your subscription.

Fix 1: Enable offline mode

  1. Launch Modern Warfare 2.
  2. On the “Press A to start” screen, press “A”.
  3. After you’ve pressed “A”, immediately press “B”.
  4. A menu will pop up and you’ll have to select “Go Offline”.
  5. Press the select/options button to go into the online menu.

  2. Go to the Xbox/Microsoft Store.
  3. Find “Xbox Live Gold” and select it.
  4. Choose a plan and pay using a debit/credit card.
