How to Fix Pin/Unpin Option Not Showing on Instagram

Is the pin and unpin not showing or not working on Instagram (on Android)?

Instagram has a feature that allows you to pin posts to the top of your profile.

You can pin up to 3 posts, and it’s recommended that you pin your best-performing ones.

To pin a post, you need to tap on a post, tap on the three dots, and select “Pin to Your Profile”.

You can unpin a post by selecting “Unpin From Your Profile” and it’ll return to its original spot.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to fix the pin/unpin post option not showing on Instagram (pin to your profile feature not working).

Why is the pin/unpin feature not showing on Instagram?

Pin Unpin Not Showing on Instagram

The pin/unpin feature is not showing on Instagram because there’s an ongoing bug/glitch with Android devices.

Currently, Android users cannot see the pin and unpin feature on their posts.

However, iPhone users are unaffected and they still can pin or unpin their posts.

The issue was first reported on Reddit where many Android users stated that the feature was missing.

How to fix pin/unpin option not showing on Instagram

To fix the pin/unpin option not showing on Instagram, you need to log in to your Instagram account using an iPhone instead of an Android device.

This is because the option is currently bugged/glitched on Android devices but not on iOS devices.

Fix 1: Log in to your Instagram account using an iPhone instead of Android

  1. Use an iPhone instead of an Android device.
  2. Log in to your Instagram account on an iPhone.
  3. Navigate to the post that you want to pin/unpin.
  4. Tap on the three dots and select “Pin to Your Profile” or “Unpin From Your Profile”.

Editor’s note: I’ve tested this method myself and it worked because the pin/unpin feature is bugged on Android but not iPhone.

Fix 2: Download an older version of Instagram (APK)

  1. Delete the Instagram app on your Android device.
  2. Go to https://instagram.en.uptodown.com/android/versions.
  3. Select an older version of Instagram (e.g. 1 month ago).
  4. Select “Download” to download the APK.
  5. Open Instagram and log in to your account.
  6. Check if the pin/unpin option is back.

Fix 3: Clear Instagram’s data and cache

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Apps > App management > Instagram.
  3. Select “Instagram” and select “Storage usage”.
  4. Select “Clear cache” followed by “Clear data”.
  5. Open Instagram and check if the pin/unpin option is back.

Fix 4: Uninstall and reinstall Instagram

  1. Tap and hold the Instagram app.
  2. Select “Remove” or “Uninstall”.
  3. Open the App Store or Google Play Store.
  4. Search for “Instagram” and reinstall it.
  5. Open Instagram and check if the pin/unpin option is back.
