What is The Pit in Diablo 4?

The Pit is an Artificers’ Time Dungeon in Diablo 4 where you’ll have to fill a bar by defeating enemies within 10 minutes.

This will open a portal leading to a random dungeon boss.

The materials dropped by these bosses are used for Masterworks.

How to Unlock The Pit in Diablo 4

To unlock the pit in Diablo 4, you need to use the portal activator in Cerrigar.

The town’s waypoint is unlocked by default, but some prerequisites need to be met to use the portal.

This includes reaching World Tier 4, complete a Tier 46 (or higher) Nightmare Dungeon.

In addition, the Artificers’ Obelisk in Cerrigar must be activated to enter the Pit.

This uses the Runeshard token obtained from Whisper Bounties, Nightmare Dungeon, Helltides, or Legion Events.

The Pit rewards

Materials that you get from defeating the boss at the end of the Pit can be used to upgrade equipment with Masterworks at the locksmith.

This includes Obducite (Tier 1 to 20), Ingolith (Tier 21 to 40), and Neathiron.

The required materials depends on the equipment’s current rank.

In addition, materials can be transmuted through the Alchemist, offering a chance to exchange them for a cash that includes a lower grade of the materials you use.

Defeating the boss at the end of the Pit at any tier will reward you with a Stygian Stone.

The Stygian Stone is used to summon the Torment version of endgame Uber Bosses, adding more endgame content and rewards.
