How to Fix Unity Error in Zenless Zone Zero

Zenless Zone Zero is an action game by HoYoverse set in a future plagued by Hollows.

How to Fix Unity Error in Zenless Zone Zero

Fix 1: Restart the game

  1. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL and open the Task Manager.
  2. End the task for Zenless Zone Zero.
  3. End the task for HoyoPlay or Epic Games.
  4. Try launching Zenless Zone Zero again.
  5. If it crashes again, restart your PC and try launching it again.

Fix 2: Modify launch options

  1. Open the HoYoPlay launcher and select the menu icon.
  2. Select “Game Settings” and select “Open Directory”.
  3. Right-click “ZenlessZoneZero.exe” and select “Properties”.
  4. Copy the file location (e.g. D:\ZenlessZoneZero\ZenlessZoneZero Game).
  5. On your desktop, right-click an empty space and select “New” followed by “Shortcut”.
  6. Paste the file location that you’ve copied:
    • For Windows 10: Paste the file location and add \ZenlessZoneZero.exe at the end.
    • For Windows 11: Paste the file location and add \ZenlessZoneZero.exe -force-d3d12 at the end.
  7. Select “Next” and name the shortcut “ZZZ”.
  8. Select “Finish” and launch the game from the shortcut.

Fix 3: Run the game as an administrator

  • For Epic Games: Open the Epic Games Launcher > Library > Three dots under Zenless Zone Zero > Manage > Folder > Right-click ZenlessZoneZero > Properties > Compatibility > Run this program as an administrator > Apply > OK.
  • For HoYoPlay: Open the HoYoPlay Launcher > Zenless Zone Zero > Menu > Game Settings > Open Directory > Right-click ZenlessZoneZero > Properties > Compatibility > Run this program as an administrator > Apply > OK

Fix 4: Run the game in compatibility mode

  • For Epic Games: Open the Epic Games Launcher > Library > Three dots under Zenless Zone Zero > Manage > Folder > Right-click ZenlessZoneZero > Properties > Compatibility > Run this program in compatibility mode for > Enable > Disable fullscreen optimizations > Enable > Apply > OK.
  • For HoYoPlay: Open the HoYoPlay Launcher > Zenless Zone Zero > Menu > Game Settings > Open Directory > Right-click ZenlessZoneZero > Properties > Compatibility >Run this program in compatibility mode for > Enable > Disable fullscreen optimizations > Enable > Apply > OK.

Fix 5: Update your graphics card

  • For Nvidia: Visit https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/geforce-experience/download/ > Download Now > open the app > sign up or log in > Drivers > Download.
  • For AMD: Visit https://www.amd.com/en/support > Download > open the app > follow the on-screen instructions to update your graphics card.

Fix 6: Modify Zenless Zone Zero launch options

  1. Open Epic Games > Library > Three dots under Zenless Zone Zero > Manage.
  2. Enable “Launch Options”.
  3. Type “-dx11” (without quotation marks).
  4. Launch Zenless Zone Zero.
  5. If the game crashes again, type “-dx12” or “-windowed” and try launching it again.

Fix 7: Check for updates

  1. Open the HoYoPlay launcher.
  2. Select “Menu” followed by “Check for Updates”.
  3. Wait for the game to finish updating and launch it.

Fix 8: Disable overlays

  • Disable Nvidia Overlay: Open Nvidia GeForce Experience > Settings > General > In-Game Overlay > Disable.
  • Disable Discord Overlay: Open Discord > Gear icon (User Settings) > Activity Settings > Game Overlay > Enable in-game overlay > Disable.

Fix 9: Disable conflicting programs

  • Unplug your racing wheel: Unplug the Logitech or Thrustmaster racing wheel.
  • Disable gaming software: Open the task manager and end the Razer Synapse or MSI Dragon Center task.
  • Close your tabs: Close all of your tabs to free up RAM and relaunch the game.
  • Disconnect the external USB drive, joystick, controller, etc. that are connected to your PC.

Fix 10: Repair game files (for HoYoPlay)

  1. Open the HoYoPlay launcher.
  2. Select “Menu” followed by “Repair Now”.
  3. Wait for the game to be repaired and launch it.

Fix 11: Verify game files (for Epic Games)

  1. Open Epic Games > Library > Three dots under Zenless Zone Zero > Manage.
  2. Select “Verify” next to “Verify Files”.
  3. Wait for the game to be verified and launch it.
