Adding a friend in the game allows you to team up with them.

How to add friends in Overwatch 2
To add friends in Overwatch 2, you need to launch the game and go to the “Social” tab.
After you’ve selected “Social”, click on the “Add Friend” button.
Lastly, enter your friend’s BattleTag (e.g. Russ#1490) and select “Send Request” to send a friend request to them.
1. Go to “Social”

Open the Battle.net launcher and launch Overwatch 2.
Select “Social” or select the friends icon on the top right.
2. Select “Add Friend”

After you’ve selected “Social”, you’ll land on the “Friends” page.
On the page, you’ll see a list of your Battle.net friends.
To add a new friend, click on the “Add Friend” button.
3. Enter your friend’s BattleTag

After you’ve clicked on the “Add Friend” button, a pop-up will appear.
Now, you can either enter your friend’s email address or BattleTag.
If you’re entering your friend’s BattleTag, you need to include their usernmame and their tag.
Here’s an example of a BattleTag, “Russ#1490” and select “Send Request”.
Now, you need to wait for your friend to accept your request.
How to invite friends in Overwatch 2

To invite friends in Overwatch 2, you need to use the in-game chat box.
Type “/invite BattleTag” (e.g. /invite devastator#11808) to play with them.
Here’s how to invite your friend:
- Open the Battle.net client and launch Overwatch 2.
- Click on the chat box.
- Enter “/invite BattleTag” (e.g. /invite devastator#11808).
Note: Both you and your friend need to be in-game for you to invite them.
Otherwise, you’ll get the “Player not found” error.
A lot of players are having trouble with inviting their friends in Overwatch 2.
This is because they are getting the “Player is in a different version of Overwatch” error.
To fix this, you can invite them from the general chat instead of the “Social” tab.
You can do this by following the 3-step guide above.
Another workaround is to switch the Battle.net app to the Beta version.
You can do this by opening the Battle.net app > Logo > Settings > Beta > Switch to Beta.
