How to Merge Overwatch 2 Accounts

Are you trying to Merge your Overwatch accounts (PS4, PS5, or Xbox to your Battle.net account)?

If you are, you might be facing issues with the QR code not showing up or your items not transferring.

Merging your accounts will transfer your skins, cosmetics, and unlocks from Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2.

In addition, all of your progress from your console account will be stored on your Battle.net account.

Overwatch 2 was released on October 4, 2022.

Since its release, the game has had multiple known issues.

Some of the known issues are server disconnection, cosmetics, items, currency not showing up, and others.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to merge Overwatch 2 accounts (cross-progression) and why is the QR code not showing.

Why is Overwatch 2 QR code not showing?

The Overwatch 2 QR code is not showing because there is a bug with the launch build that doesn’t show the account merge prompt on certain consoles (source: Overwatch 2 Launch Status Update).

Blizzard rolled out a partial UI fix but they are still working on fixes for additional merging UI issues.

In addition, the merging queue is overloaded, so it’ll take a long time for the merge to complete.

Thousands of players are complaining that they are unable to merge their Overwatch accounts because of this.

“I never got a QR code on my screen when I joined the game”.

“There’s a button on PS4 that says account merge, but when l press it, it doesn’t work”.

“My PlayStation account is linked to my Battle.net account and none of my progression was merged. I’m forced to play the game as a new player with no unlocks whatsoever. Can this be fixed?”.

How to merge Overwatch 2 accounts

To merge Overwatch 2 accounts, you need to log in to Overwatch 2 on your console and you’ll be prompted to scan a QR code.

Scan the QR code with your mobile device, follow the on-screen instructions, and wait for the merging queue to complete (this can take a few hours).

If you didn’t receive the prompt, you need to restart your game or wait until Blizzard fixes the launch build bug.

Step 1: Launch Overwatch 2 on your console

Overwatch 2 Cross Progression
  1. Launch and log in to Overwatch 2 on your console.
  2. A “Cross Progression” pop-up should appear.
  3. Select “Continue” to proceed to the next step.

Note: If the pop-up does not appear, you need to restart the game or wait for Blizzard to implement a UI fix. There is currently a bug with the launch build that prevents the account merge prompt from showing up on certain consoles.

Step 2: Scan the QR code

  1. Select “Hold to Confirm Account”.
  2. Select “Continue”.

Step 4: Wait for the account merge queue to complete

Overwatch Migration Queue
  • Wait for the account merge queue to complete (this can take a few hours).
  • You can see how many players are in the queue by selecting “Account Merge – In Queue”.
  • E.g. You are currently 17000 in the migration queue.

If your skins, cosmetics, or progression is still not transferred even after the migration is complete, you need to wait for a longer period of time because the player database is overloaded.

If you have incorrectly locked heroes or items, you need to contact Blizzard support here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/product/overwatch.
