How to Do the Blue Search Comment on TikTok

TikTok has a feature where it links certain comments to search results.

These comments are indicated by a blue search icon.

For example, if the comment “Dance” is highlighted, selecting it will search for “Dance”.

These highlighted comments are also known as blue search comments.

However, not every comment section has blue search comments.

This is because not every comment is related to the video.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to do the blue search comment or link searches on TikTok and what is the feature about.

What is the blue search comment on TikTok?

The blue search comment on TikTok is a feature that allows you to link searches with your comment.

Comments that are linked will be highlighted in blue with a search icon and you can select it.

When you select a blue search comment, you’ll land on the search results for that term.

For example, if you’ve selected “Dance”, you’ll land on the “Dance” search results.

This is part of TikTok’s goal to compete with Google search.

However, not every comment section has blue search comments.

This is because not every comment is related to the video.

A comment will be algorithmically turned into a blue search comment only if it’s related to the video.

How to do the blue search comment on TikTok

Blue search comment on TikTok

To do the blue search comment on TikTok, you need to first find the keyword(s) of the video (e.g. Schumacher).

After you’ve found the keyword(s) of the video, you need to include them in your comment (e.g. Schumacher or Latifi).

TikTok will then algorithmically turn your comment into a blue search comment if it’s related to the video.

Note: You cannot make the search comments yourself as it’s algorithmically decided.

Here is a quick guide on how to link searches in the comments:

  1. Find the keyword(s) of the video from the video itself, captions, hashtags, and comment section.
  2. Include the keyword(s) of the video in your comment.

Using this method, your comment has a very high chance of turning into a blue search comment.

However, it does not work 100% of the time because the process is algorithmic.

The algorithm decides which comment to link and which comment to not link.

That said, here are some tips to get the blue search comment almost all the time:

  • Open the comment section and look for existing blue search comments.
  • Copy the blue keyword(s) and include them in your comment.
  • For example, if there’s an existing blue search comment in the comment section like “Anthony Taylor”, including it in your comment will turn it into a blue search comment almost all the time.

Editor’s note: I’ve tried and tested this method myself 4 times and managed to turn all 4 of my comments into blue search comments.

Popular videos on the “For You” page tend to work better because they have more data (e.g. comments).

As a result, TikTok will be able to better determine if there are keyword(s) in your comment that are relevant to the video.

If they are, the specific keyword(s) will be linked to the search results and users will be able to select it to go to the search result page of that keyword.

If it’s a new video, TikTok will have a harder time telling if certain keywords in your comment are related to the video.

Consequently, the likelihood of the keyword(s) in your comment turning into a link is low.

Hence, it’s highly recommended that you test out the method on a popular video on the “For You” page instead of your own or your friends’ videos.
