The badge was made to commemorate community moderators on Discord.
Discord hopes to recognize the efforts of moderators that made communities great.
The badge is rewarded to moderators that are aware of the Discord rules and guidelines.
If you think you’re doing a good job at moderating your server, you’ll be qualified to obtain the Discord Moderator Badge.
However, being a Certified Discord Moderator is not that easy.
You’ll need to be evaluated based on your skills first.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to get a Discord Moderator Badge.
How to get a Discord moderator badge
To get a Discord moderator badge, you must first study the Discord Moderator Academy.
After that, take the Discord Moderator Academy Exam and wait for Discord to contact you.
If you pass the exam, Discord will send you an invitation to join the Discord Moderator Community.
In the community, the best Discord moderators will share their knowledge and provide support.
You’ll also be given opportunities to communicate with the Trust & Safety Team as well as Engineers on Discord.
To receive the moderator badge, you need to be an active member in the Discord Moderator Community for at least 3 months.
Then, you’ll be eligible for it (but not guaranteed).

1. Read the articles on the Discord Moderator Academy
To begin with, you need to read the articles on the Discord Moderator Academy.
This is because you’re required to take an exam based on the articles on the Discord Moderator Academy later on.

Once you’re on the website, you’ll be greeted with a description of moderating on Discord.
The description talks about the importance of moderators and how the Discord Moderator Academy works.
Scroll down the page until you reach the curriculum.
The Discord Moderator Academy contains various articles to learn about moderation and community management.
The first part of the curriculum is the “Basics”.
In the “Basics” section, you’ll learn how to build and moderate a community.
Once you’ve read the articles in the “Basics” section, move on to the “Setup and Function” section.
In this section, you’ll learn how to make use of Discord’s features to manage your moderation processes and your team.
You’ll also learn how to build a community with channels and events.
The third section is “Advanced Community Management”.
It teaches you about community management and how to make good decisions.
The last section of the Discord Moderator Academy is the “Moderation Seminars” section.
The “Moderation Seminars” section covers the philosophy and strategy of moderation.
2. Take the Discord Moderator Academy Exam

Once you’ve studied the Discord Moderator Academy, you can take the Discord Moderator Academy Exam.

The exam contains a series of questions that tests your knowledge based on the Discord Moderator Academy’s resources.

The duration of the exam is estimated to take an hour or less of your time.
However, there is no time limit for the exam, so you can take your time to complete it.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able go back and change your answers after you’ve clicked on “Next”.
Hence, make sure that you’re satisfied with your answers before you move on.
After you’ve completed the exam, you’ll see a success message that says “Exam Complete!”.
The message states that Discord will contact you with a link to the Discord Moderation Discord if you’ve passed the exam.
If you fail the exam, you can retake it after the next wave of Discord Moderator Articles.
The Discord Moderation Discord is a community of moderators that share their knowledge and support one another.
In the community, you’ll be given opportunities to share feedback with the Discord team.
To be qualified for the Discord moderator badge, you need to be an active member in the community for at least 3 months.
Then, you’ll have a high chance of earning it.
