Finding people on Snapchat can be a challenge, especially if you don’t know the person’s username.
However, with features like “Quick Add”, you can easily find people you know on Snapchat.
“Quick Add” recommends users to add based on mutual friends.
For instance, if someone you added on Snapchat is a friend with another person, that person might be listed on “Quick Add”.
However, “Quick Add” is limited, and it doesn’t always recommend the people that you want to add.
If you want to find someone on Snapchat near you, you have to find them based on their current location.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to find people near you on Snapchat by their location.

How to find people near me on Snapchat
To find people near you on Snapchat, you need to use Snap Map.
Snap Map allows you to find people on Snapchat based on their location.
On the map, you’ll be able to see many blue hotspots.
These blue hotspots indicate that someone has recently posted a Snapchat story there.
For example, if you see a blue hotspot near you, it means that the person is in your vicinity.
However, you need to take note of when the story was posted.
This is because the story might be posted more than a day ago, and the person might not be in that location anymore.
So before you add someone, make sure to check when the story was posted.
In addition, check the username of the person before adding them and see whether it resembles their real name.
Typically, most people on Snapchat use a variation or part of their real name as their username.
Below is a step-by-step guide on how you can use Snap Map to find people near you on Snapchat.
Step 1: Go to the Snap Map & tap on a blue hotspot
Open Snapchat > Snap Map > tap on a blue hotspot near you.
Step one is to go to the Snap Map and tap on a blue hotspot near you.
To begin with, open Snapchat on your mobile device.
You can also access the Snap Map on a desktop.
Once you’re on Snapchat, you’ll land on the Snapchat camera.
On the bottom navigation bar, tap on the location icon.
The location icon is located on the extreme left of the bottom navigation bar.
On the Snap Map, you’ll see your current location indicated by a Bitmoji.
For example, if the current location that you’re in is “Pasir Ris”, your Bitmoji will be located there.
You’ll also be able to see your friends on the Snap Map.
However, they have to be recently active on Snapchat for them to show up.
In addition, they cannot have “Ghost Mode” enabled.
On the Snap Map, you’ll also be able to see multiple blue hotspots.
These blue hotspots indicate that someone has recently posted a story on that location.
To find someone near you on Snapchat, tap on a blue hotspot near your Bitmoji on the Snap Map.
Proceed to the next step to learn how to find the username of the person.
Step 2: Tap on “View Creator”
Tap on the “View Creator” button at the bottom of the story.
After you’ve tapped on a blue hotspot on the Snap Map, a story will pop up.
There are a couple of things that you need to check on the story including when the story was posted and whether there’s a “View Creator” button.
First of all, check the top left corner of the story.
On the top left corner of the story, you’ll see when it was posted.
For example, if the story was posted 4 hours ago, it’ll show “4h ago”.
However, if the story was posted more than 24 hours ago, it’ll show the day that the story was posted instead (e.g. Mon).
You need to take note of when the story was posted as the person might have already left the location.
If the story was posted an hour ago, the person is most likely still in the same location.
However, if the story was posted more than a day ago, the person might have already left the location.
The second thing that you need to look out for is the “View Creator” button.
Tap on “View Creator” to view the person’s username and name.
Keep in mind that a person’s story will only be shown on the Snap Map if they’ve added it to “Our Story”.
If the person didn’t add their story to “Our Story”, it will not be shown on the Snap Map.
Proceed to the last step to learn how to add the person on Snapchat.
Step 3: Tap on “Add”
Tap on the “Add” button to add the person as a friend on Snapchat.
After you’ve tapped on the “View Creator” button, it’ll show the person that posted the story.
It’ll show the person’s name as well as their username.
On the right side of the card, you’ll see an “Add” button.
Tap on “Add” to add the person on Snapchat.
After you’ve added them, you have to wait for them to add you back.
Congrats, you’ve learned how to “Find people near me” on Snapchat!
Keep in mind that the “View Creator” button does not always show up.
According to Snapchat, an automated system is used to monitor stories that are displayed on the Snap Map.
So even if a person added their story to “Our Story”, it might not even show up on your Snap Map.
Although finding someone near you via the Snap Map is ineffective, it’s the best method you can use.
How does Snap Map work?

Once you’re on your chats, tap on the add friends icon on the top of your screen.
After you’ve tapped on the add friends icon, you’ll land on the “Add Friends” screen.
On the “Add Friends” screen, search for someone on Snapchat by entering their name or username on the search bar.
