Apparently, MW2 is aware of the bug and they are working on a fix which will be released as an update soon.

The Reddit thread started by u/JordanJames__ got over 400 upvotes and 300 comments.
He mentioned that he was unable to customize his showcase in the game.
When he applies the changes, it will blackout and revert to default.
Hundreds of users replied to the thread saying that they have the same issue.
“Yep. I can’t change my emblem and I’m stuck with Fender as my operator”.
“Same here. Everything resets to default after I go to the main menu. My showcase operator is stuck as Fender and I didn’t even play the campaign, which is strange”.

To fix the showcase operating not working in Modern Warfare 2, you need to wait until the bug is fixed.
Apparently, thousands of players are facing the same issue and there’s no official fix for it yet.
According to a thread, MW2 will release an update to fix the issue soon as it’s caused on their end.

Update: The profile showcase bug has been fixed, according to Infinity Ward on Twitter.
