Is Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered not saving?
Are you getting a “Warning directory creation failed” error?
Or the “Save operation could not be completed, progress will not be saved” error?
If you’re in the game, you need to manually save it first.
After you’ve manually saved your progress, you can try turning off “Controlled folder access” and whitelisting the game in your AntiVirus.
You can also try to create a new user account on Windows and make it an administrator.
- Fix 1: Save the game manually
- Fix 2: Turn off “Controlled folder access”
- Fix 3: Whitelist the game in your Firewall
- Fix 4: Create a new user account
Fix 1: Save the game manually

- Launch Spider-Man Remastered.
- Press “Esc” on your keyboard.
- Select “Manual Save”.
- Save it to an empty slot.
- Quit the game.
If you’re unable to launch the game, use the next 3 methods instead.
Fix 2: Turn off “Controlled folder access”

- Open Windows Search.
- Search for “Virus & threat protection”.
- Select “Manage settings” under “Virus & threat protection settings”.
- Select “Manage Controlled folder access”.
- Turn off “Manage Controlled folder access”.
- Launch Spider-Man Remastered.
Instead of turning off controlled folder access, you can whitelist Spider-Man Remastered in it.
Fix 3: Whitelist the game in your Firewall
- Open Windows Search.
- Search for “Windows Defender Firewall”
- Select “Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall”.
- Select “Change settings”.
- Click on “Allow another app”.
- Click on “Browse”.
- Select the Spider-Man Remastered game.
- Click on “Add”.
- Click on “OK”.
Fix 4: Create a new user account
- Open Windows Search.
- Search for “Add, edit, or remove other users”.
- Select “Add account”.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to add a new account.
When you’re adding a new account, make sure to not include any special characters in the name.
