How to Fix “The UE4-MultiVersus Game has crashed”

What is UE4 in MultiVersus?

UE4 in MultiVersus is Unreal Engine 4.

Unreal Engine is a game engine that developers use to build video games.

In some cases, the engine might crash due to your antivirus software.

Hence, you need to temporarily disable it if you want to prevent the game from crashing.

In other cases, your PC specifications like your graphics card might be outdated.

How to fix “The UE4-MultiVersus Game has crashed”

To fix “The UE4-MultiVersus Game has crashed”, you need to run MultiVersus and “start_protected_game” as an administrator.

To do this, you can tick “Run as an administrator” for both programs.

By ticking “Run as an administrator” for both programs, they will be automatically launched as an administrator.

Hence, you don’t need to manually right-click the program and click on “Run as administrator”.

You can also try running the game in “dx12” or the windowed version of it by editing its launch options.

Method 1: Tick “Run as an administrator” for MultiVersus

  1. Open Steam and go to your Library.
  2. Right-click MultiVersus > “Properties…”.
  3. Select “Local Files”.
  4. Click on “Browse…”.
  5. Right-click “MultiVersus”.
  6. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  7. Tick “Run this program as an administrator”.

After you’ve ticked “Run this program as an administrator”, click on “Apply” followed by “OK”.

Try starting MultiVersus and see if you still get the UE4 fatal error.

If you still get it, try using method 2 (along with this one).

Method 2: Tick “Run as an administrator” for “start_protected_game”

  1. Open Steam and go to your Library.
  2. Right-click MultiVersus > “Properties…”.
  3. Select “Local Files”.
  4. Click on “Browse…”.
  5. Right-click “start_protected_game”.
  6. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  7. Tick “Run this program as an administrator”.

After you’ve ticked “Run this program as an administrator”, click on “Apply” followed by “OK”.

Try starting MultiVersus and see if you still get the UE4 fatal error.
