Why does Overwatch 2 say “Unexpected server error”?

Overwatch 2 says “Unexpected server error” because the game’s servers are down.
According to Blizzard, there’s also a bug in the game where players will get the error if they merged their PC and console accounts.
Blizzard is aware of it and they are working on a fix.
To make matters worse, during the launch day of the game, they encountered a massive DDoS attack that overloaded their servers.
Hence, many users are complaining about the disconnection issues.
“Technical difficulties aside and ignoring the fact that I was literally thrown out of my ranked game due to an unexpected server error, Overwatch 2 actually feels fun”.
“As soon as I get into Overwatch 2 (after hours of being in the queue), I get a server error and thrown back into a 30k person queue lmao”.
“My Overwatch 2 experience: 40,000+ player queue, waited for 1 hour+ to get in, got in, went for a quickplay and got an unexpected error mid-game, and now, I can’t even get in the queue because it says that the connection server failed”.
