How to Comment GIFs on Instagram

Instagram recently rolled out a new feature that allows you to comment GIFs on a post.

These GIFs are taken directly from the GIPHY website.

You can search for any GIF you want and Instagram will retrieve it from GIPHY.

However, not everyone has the ability to post a GIF as a comment.

This is because the feature is not released to everyone yet.

If you don’t have the feature—be patient and wait until it’s rolled out to you.

In this guide, you’ll learn what a GIF comment is and how to comment GIFs on Instagram under a post.

What is a GIF comment on Instagram?

GIF comment on Instagram

A GIF comment on Instagram is a Graphics Interchange Format image in the comments section of a post.

The GIF is searched and retrieved from GIPHY, a GIF search engine that is owned by Meta.

Adding GIFs in Instagram comments is a new feature on the app.

The feature was rolled out after Mark Zuckerberg announced the $12 per month paid verification for Instagram.

This copies Twitter’s $8 per month verification subscription.

Posting GIFs as a comment is not a new thing as many other apps have this feature.

For example, 9GAG allows its users to comment on posts with GIFs.

On Instagram, not everyone has the ability to comment GIFs.

This is because the feature is not rolled out to everyone yet.

Instagram is currently testing the feature to see if it increases engagement on the platform.

Hence, if you don’t have the feature, you need to wait until its rolled out to you.

How to comment GIFs on Instagram

To comment GIFs on Instagram, open the comments section of a post and select the “GIF” option next to the comment field.

After you’ve selected the option, search for a GIF and select it to post it.

If you don’t have the “GIF” option, you need to select the “More” option under an existing GIF comment instead.

If you don’t have both options, you need to wait until the feature is rolled out to you.

Method 1: Select the “GIF” option
