Instagram Notes is a new feature that allows users to share what they are thinking.
Users can share notes with their close friends or mutual followers.
Mutual followers mean your followers that you’re following back.
However, only a limited number of users have the “Notes” feature.
This is because the feature is in the testing phase before Instagram decides to roll it out to everyone.
In this guide, you’ll learn what are Instagram notes, how to get them, and how to use them.
What are Instagram notes?

Instagram notes allow you to share your thoughts with your friends on the app.
You can share notes with your mutual followers or close friends list.
Notes will disappear in 24 hours, similar to Instagram stories.
On Twitter, @ahmedghanem is one of the first few people to tweet about the feature.
Here’s the caption of his tweet, “New: #Instagram is testing new Notes feature, you can share notes only with your close friends list or the followers you follow back”.
Unfortunately, many users complained about the feature on Twitter.
Some users said that they didn’t want the feature and others said that it was “annoying”.
Notes can be up to 60 characters in length and users won’t get notifications about them.
If you don’t have the feature, it means that it’s not rolled to you yet.
How to get Instagram notes

- Update Instagram to the latest version.
- Open Instagram.
- Tap on the direct message icon.
- Tap on “Leave a note” (the plus button).
- Type your note.
- Send the note to your mutual followers or close friends.
When you share a note, people will not be notified of it.
However, they can see your note and reply to it within 24 hours.
You can only share notes with your mutual followers or close friends.
You cannot share notes with your followers that you don’t follow back.
Instagram notes are currently in the testing phase, so not everyone has them.
If you don’t have the feature, you need to wait until it’s rolled out to you.
Here’s what a Meta spokesperson said, “We’re now testing Notes so people can quickly share thoughts with their friends”.
The idea behind this is similar to tweets on Twitter.
Social media apps are trying to replicate one another by copying each other’s features.
Instagram is known for doing this because it wants to stay on top.
