How to Fix “No Internet Connection” on Instagram

Are you getting a “No Internet Connection” error on Instagram?

If you are, the features on the app will not load or work.

If you go to your feed or profile, you won’t be able to refresh it.

You won’t be able to follow/unfollow people, comment, or like any posts.

In most cases, your internet connection is fine but the error still shows.

In this guide, you’ll learn why Instagram says “No Internet Connection” and how to fix it.

Why does Instagram say “No Internet Connection”?

No Internet Connection Instagram

Instagram says “No Internet Connection” because it cannot connect to the internet.

This can happen if your internet speed is too slow/not working or Instagram is down.

If your internet speed is too slow, Instagram won’t be able to connect to the internet.

This is because if the connection takes too long, it will time out.

In some cases, Instagram might be down for everyone—not just you.

If that’s the case, Instagram will say that you don’t have an internet connection even though it’s working fine.

How to fix “No Internet Connection” on Instagram

To fix “No Internet Connection” on Instagram, you need to check if Instagram is down.

If Instagram is down, you need to wait for a few hours for it to be back up.

If it isn’t down, you can either try switching your network, updating Instagram, or waiting for 24 to 48 hours.

You can also try to uninstall and reinstall the app—as recommended by the Help Center.

1. Check if Instagram is down

Firstly, you need to check if Instagram is down.

There are a couple of ways to check if Instagram is down.

The first way is to go to downdetector.com and search for “Instagram”.

Once you’re there, check if there’s a spike in the number of reports.

If there are, it probably means that the app is down for everyone.

If that’s the case, you need to wait for a few hours for the servers to be back up.

You can also monitor the graph and see if the number of reports is decreasing.

Another way to check if Instagram is down is to search for “Instagram down” on Twitter or the issue that you’re facing.

Check the top and latest tweets to see if there are people tweeting about it.

2. Change your network

Another method to fix the “No Internet Connection” error on Instagram is to change your network.

The error can be caused because your internet speed is too slow.

You can check your internet speed on speedtest.net.

If your internet speed is a lot lower than 42 Mbps, it means that it’s too slow.

If that’s the case, you’ll get the “No Internet Connection” error because it takes too long to connect.

To fix this, you need to change your network from Wi-Fi to mobile data and vice-versa.

You can also try connecting to another Wi-Fi network.

After you’ve switched your network, force close the Instagram app, reopen it, and check if the error is gone.

3. Update Instagram to the latest version

The third method is to update Instagram to the latest version.

To do so, open the App Store or Google Play Store, search for “Instagram”, and tap on “Update”.

Some Instagram updates contain bug fixes that will fix existing issues on the app.

Hence, you need to make sure that you always have the latest version of Instagram.

If you already have the latest version of it, you need to wait for another update to be released.

Instead of updating the app, you can also uninstall and reinstall it.

By doing so, Instagram’s cache will be cleared and the app will be updated to the latest version.

4. Wait for 24-48 hours

If all else fails, you need to wait for 24-48 hours for the “No Internet Connection” error to disappear.

Instagram errors will eventually fix themselves after some time.

For example, if you can’t follow or unfollow people on Instagram, you’ll be able to do so again after waiting it out.

If you’re getting the “No Internet Connection” even though your internet connection is fine, it means that the Instagram servers are most likely down.

If that’s the case, there’s nothing that you can do to fix it except wait.
